5 for 5 Challenge

The January resolution rush is over and in its place is a big personal development shaped hole. A niggling sense of the need to do something. Something good.

After the awareness raising we need action. What better action than a chance to raise money for charities campaigning for better maternal health and support for the bereaved AND achieve some personal goals at the same time?

5 for 5 Challenge

Aoife and John have set up the 5 for 5 Challenge to honour the memory of their son Seamus by raising funds for SANDS and Tommy’s to help provide support for the bereaved and contribute to research to prevent it from happening to more families.

The set up is simple. Donate £5 to Sands or Tommy’s and complete a challenge of your choice around the theme of 5 and nominate 5 others to do the same.

Unlike the Motherhood challenge this has a point and shouldn’t make people feel bad about themselves.

It can be as easy or complicated as you want.  What matters is that the challenge is personal to you.

My challenge

My personal challenge is around blogging.  It’s what has helped make me sense of my grief, help others to share their experiences, raise awareness of the issues and campaign for the changes needed to aid stillbirth prevention, maternity care and bereavement support.

The aim is to get at least 5000 view on the blog by the end of the year.  To do this I will:

  • Take part in 5 linkies a week
  • Read at least 5 blogs a day
  • Comment on at least 5 blogs a day

This helps encourage me to keep writing and contributing to the blogging community.  It will also keep me involved in #blogging101 and #writing201 too.

Over to you

If you want to join in you can either donate to my page or directly to Aoife’s and John’s 5 for 5 campaign page.  All will contribute towards the work of Sands and Tommy’s.  Donate and create your own challenge!

Thank you for the support! Everyday I find more things to write about. The trick will be to write the thing to spark imagination like my weirdly popular mortuary post!

Thank you for helping to share it! It’s a tricky thing to promote with a semi-anonymous blog as I can’t tell many of the usual suspects for sponsorship about it and its hard to use facebook without linking the blog to my account!
